"Imperium Illithidus"

Cania : The Eight Hell

LogCania

Summary We had intercepted messages that something BIG is going down in the Church of Akbaar on Cania, so we traveled here in hopes of using whatever it is to our benefit. En route, we were welcomed by an emissary of the City of Brass, the most powerful “mini-empire” within the Imperium. Also en route, we picked up our sailor friend (Al’Ceril) and founded a merchant company to control the Imperium’s weapon shipments. When we arrived at Cania, we found it blockaded by an elite Imperial Regiment (The Unyielding) but we were able to slip past.

Once on the plane, we learned that the Imperium is blockading Cania to prevent a cancer in the Church of Akbaar from spreading. An idealistic priest has nailed a list of grievances to the cathedral doors, and his “heretical” teachings grow more popular each day. The Empire’s Unyielding regiment is tasked with putting a stop to this at all costs. Additionally, the Sultan of Brass’s wife, Lady Ifali, has been trapped here in her summer palace since the blockade began and is not happy with the situation. The three factions have been openly hostile to each other in the streets, and the entire plane resembles a powderkeg ready to ignite.

I. Purpose of Travelling To Cania We have intercepted messages from a variety of sources that something BIG is going down in the Church of Akbaar on Cania. We want to figure out want is going on, and then either exploit it or stop it depending on the circumstances. Additionally, Cania is the birthright of our very own Bael’aran, and he seeks to reclaim his throne.

II. Encountered the Empire of Brass We encountered emissaries of the City of Brass, the largest “mini-empire” within the Imperium. This empire controls 247 planes, while no other nation controls more than 8 or 10. The rebellion has dispatched General Silvertongue to meet with the Sultan of the Efreet in nine days. The rebellion believes that if the Empire of Brass joins the rebellion, many other planes will break ranks and follow suit.

PS – we also had a lengthy, intra-party debate as to whether simply kill the emissary and take his ship, which we thought was cool. Eventually, we decided to let him live.

III. Founded a Mercantile Company Rubin Dershnik, who we rescued on the River Shard a few months ago, is honoring his promise to his wife and is leaving the rebellion. He seeks to found a mercantile company. We “liberated” a merchant ship from a leprechaun pirate-captain and gave it to Rubin, and also introduced him to many important connections. Rubin’s mission is to became a weapons supplier that the Imperium relies upon – and then fail when the Imperium needs him most.

IV. Ran the “Unyielding” Blockade An Imperial regiment called the Unyielding blockades the plane of Cania, once the Eighth Hell. The Unyielding are stone giants and goliaths from one of the most hostile planes in the multiverse, and they possess an unnatural ability to shrug off damage. Our battleship successfully ran their blockade and we killed the blockade’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Craigstona. But General Von Silicar still awaits on the surface.

V. Landed on Cania We landed on the frozen hell of Cania, birthright of our very own Bael’aran. We learned that the Imperium is blockading Cania to prevent a cancer in the Church of Akbaar from spreading. An idealistic priest has nailed a list of grievances to the cathedral doors about how Akbaar should not be forced to serve the mindflayers, and his “heretical” teachings grow more popular each day.

To Do List

  • Locate the priest who nailed the “blasphemous” writings to the cathedral door
  • Locate the cyclops who stole the anarchite-derivative that the “blasphemous” writings were incribed onto. He has scars in the shape of suns and moons from a combat encounter with Lady Ifali.
  • Seek to turn Cardinal Belphagor of the Church of Akbaar against General Von Silicar of the Imperium, and vice versa.
